Pat has been improving quite a bit, he is slowly getting strength back in his arms and is able to lift and control a 1 pound wrist weight with his right arm. He has been feeding himself multiple meals, which doesn’t sound like much but it is alot of work when you don’t have wrist and hand control. He has been cruising around in a power chair and is having no problems driving (not that we thought he would) and none of the hospital staff has been run over. His spirits have been good he is remaining positive about his therapy and is working toward some goals that he has set for himself.
I have been busy redesigning the house so that it is accessible for Pat when he returns home. We are hoping he’ll be home in August but I’m not sure the house will be ready (so keep your fingers crossed). As we start moving along I will be posting pictures of the renovations because it will be quite a change from the existing plan. I am very excited about the new design and just want to get it moving.
Pat and I would like to thank everyone again for your thoughts, prayers and donations. The pasta dinner was a great day for Pat and he was thrilled to get out of the hospital for the day. Here are links to some pictures for those of you who may have missed them since the website was down. My Pics; GBMINI webblog and Hwy61 OSMC gallery
Keep it up, buddy! (Actually, I say that to myself each AM but, at my age…..)
House + renovations = racetrack. Met a kid once who had the bio-med engineers soup up his chair. The thing was very very faaassst.
xxx to you both

Like the new look of the site. Glad to hear Pat is getting around a bit and hasn’t run over any toes (yet). Hope to see you home soon, Pat!

Pat,
Glad to see that you’re still kicking ass while there’s ass to be kicked. I know that you’re a tough S.O.B and I’m not surprised to see that you’re improving so much. Wahtever you do, don’t ever give up. Just because there’s snow on the roof doesn’t mean the fire is out. Know what I mean? Take care bud, I’ll be talking to you soon.
Hi Pat and Angela,
I have been praying for you since I heard about the accident. I am glad Pat is making such great progress, not that I had any doubt. I would love to come and see you. Please let me know a good time.
Love Sherri
FINALLY, Boy I didn’t realize how much I depended on this site to check in. Glad to hear that everything is going well and the house is in the works. It will be nice to be able to be home and begin another phase of rehab. You guys are such an inspiration to us all, and give a lot of meaning to “What doesn’t kill you will make you stronger”, I have never seen such strength.
We love you and think of you often.
Love,
